Hispanic is of any race; the other groups are not Hispanic. White+MENA includes Middle Eastern and North African people.

All 41,025 people killed in 2023. NHTSA's 2024 first release is left out until its final file, since race is unknown for 15% of deaths in it, most of them in California and Wisconsin. Texas coded far more of its deaths Hispanic in 2019 to 2023 (2,906 in 2023) than before or after (1,323 in 2018, 1,679 in 2024), so Hispanic reads high in those years. Asian and NHPI have no rate: FARS puts some of them in a joined Asian or Pacific Islander code. Detailed codes that roll up to five races, some Asian and Pacific Islander codes joined. Each race is the only race listed; a person with more than one race listed, other race, redacted, and unknown are race unknown. Race and Hispanic origin come from death certificates matched to the crash, two fields FARS records for each person. Anyone recorded Hispanic is Hispanic, whatever the race; a race with Hispanic origin unknown or redacted is split by FARS's own recorded Hispanic share of that race nationwide that year (crimedb-race-split), the lighter part. Rate: people killed per 100,000 people in the group; – means no rate for that group.

6% have no recorded race and hispanic origin, so each group's rate is a floor.

Every year, 1999 to 2023. – means the source's codes that year hold no such group.

Of which placed by CrimeDB: the part of each group CrimeDB placed (race recorded without ethnicity: split by the source's own recorded Hispanic share of each race); the rest of each group is as the source recorded it.

1999 to 2018: Detailed codes that roll up to five races, some Asian and Pacific Islander codes joined. A person with more than one race listed is counted in the first race listed, and anyone with Hawaiian listed is NHPI; other race, redacted, and unknown are race unknown.

2019 on: Detailed codes that roll up to five races, some Asian and Pacific Islander codes joined. Each race is the only race listed; a person with more than one race listed, other race, redacted, and unknown are race unknown. Race and Hispanic origin come from death certificates matched to the crash, two fields FARS records for each person. 1999 to 2023: everyone the source recorded Hispanic counts as Hispanic, whatever the race; people with a race and no Hispanic origin recorded are placed by CrimeDB, the lighter line and their own column.
